Set For Spring? Your Home Preparations!
Spring has arrived in Melbourne’s outer suburbs! So what better time to refresh your home in preparation for the season ahead? In today’s blog, Aston Homes share our best tips in readiness for spring.
Garden Going
In the winter months, it’s easy to let your garden grow a little too well! Come spring, you’ll be wanting to enjoy your morning coffee in your alfresco area and family lunches on the lawn. Now’s the time to get stuck into the garden, ensuring everything is fresh, fertilised, mown and trimmed before the heat arrives. Not only will gardening be more enjoyable in the mild weather, it will reduce fire danger and make ongoing maintenance during the summer months less hassle.
If You’re Planting, Get Prepared
If you wait until the last minute to head to the local nursery and grab this season’s seeds and bulbs you may find them all gone, or end up planting too late to see results. If you leave this to the last minute, you could miss out on some beautiful colours in your garden this summer.
Spring Declutter
Before you get to an actual spring clean, it pays to declutter first. Less stuff means more space to clean. Clearing out old clothing is a great place to start. Most of us are guilty of having items in our wardrobes that either don’t fit, or don’t reflect who we are anymore. Make a day of it with your family and go through each item you own and sort into four categories – keep, throw, sell, and last chance.
Freshen Up Your Bedroom
In winter, bedroom design is all about cosy, dark colours and warming décor – but spring demands a touch of freshness! Think brighter and lighter to encourage a sunnier atmosphere. Consider swapping out your wintery doona for something more breezy and change your linens to a spring colour – lavender, apricot, terracotta or even a classic, crisp white. Open the windows wide and welcome the scent of cut grass and seasonal flowers to herald the change in season.
Fire up the BBQ
Prep your Aston Homes alfresco area for barbecuing this spring and summer. Give everything a good clean and replace anything that’s past its prime. Dust off your outdoor furniture, stock up on firelighters, check your barbeque utensils and ensure you’ve plenty of Aeroguard for the return of those nasty mozzies. You’ll thank yourself on the nights when you’re set to entertain and looking to avoid last minute trips to the shops!
