Preparing For Your New Build With Aston Homes

Preparing For Your New Build With Aston Homes

Building a brand new home is a great adventure, and you’ll probably experience a mixture of excitement and nerves. However, as the months pass you may begin to feel a bit restless! To help you through, we’ve collated some great ideas for passing the time while your new home is under construction!

Declutter

There is never a better time to declutter your home than before a move! A good pre-move cull will ensure a fresh start in your new home. Sort through your wardrobe, rid yourself of the items tucked away in the back of cupboards, storage spaces and in the shed. It’s the perfect time to decide what is worth keeping, donating, recycling or selling. Websites like Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace and eBay can be an excellent way of selling your pre-loved items. It’s also the perfect time to get rid of large household items that you’re looking to replace. Your council will either have a pre-determined hard rubbish calendar or you will need to book a special collection.

Take Some Time Out

If you’re excited to see the finished project but are feeling a little restless as your new build comes together – a holiday offers the perfect escape! Taking some time away will immediately provide you with a happy distraction. If you head away with the family, a holiday offers some great opportunities for memory-making before you begin this exciting chapter in your new home! The entire family will appreciate a break and approach the upcoming move with a clear mind.

Plan Your Moving Day

As the day draws closer, you will need to start giving some thought to planning the big day! If your young family is preparing a move, it might pay to arrange care for your little ones so that you can focus on the heavy lifting – the same goes for your four-legged family members! Family, friends or your go-to babysitter can be a great help at this time, so book them in early. Moving is a big enough ordeal without the worry of cleaning your old home. Hiring cleaners is a great idea to ease the stress – and if you were renting previously, many offer a ‘bond back guarantee’. Ring around and get some quotes. Cleaners can be booked well in advance so it’s easy to get a great deal. Ensure you have marked your moving out and moving in dates on the calendar so that you don’t make any commitments on this important weekend!

We hope that these tips help in keeping you busy while we complete your build. The Aston Homes team will keep you updated throughout the process and we can’t wait to hand over the keys to your brand new home!
