New-Build Communities – Your Happy Retirement
Mature Melbournites who choose to build in our city’s vibrant outer suburbs will soon discover that there are many wonderful social activities to take part in all year round! Today, the Aston Homes team are happy to highlight our favourite local libraries, social clubs and community events across the locales we build in. Let’s get out and about!
Local Libraries
Your local library is the perfect place to grab the latest bestseller or to try something new! Melbourne’s libraries have a multitude of resources and clubs dedicated to seniors, including family history groups, craft and conversation groups, genealogy tours, beginner’s IT classes, iPad and tablet classes, movie clubs and more! For our Northside bookworms, there are four library locations in the City of Whittlesea – Lalor, Mill Park, Thomastown and Whittlesea. Plus, a mobile library visits three extra sites within the municipality regularly. For our Westies there are even more locations to choose from! The Wyndham City Libraries are located in Werribee, Werribee Plaza, Point Cook, Tarneit and Wyndham Vale.
If you find you’re enjoying all that your local library has to offer, why not step things up by joining a local book club? Here, you’ll meet regularly with other locals to discuss a novel that you’ve chosen to read. With a delicious grazing plate and a glass of wine, these conversations can be a great way to while away an evening.
Social Clubs
Now that the best hours of your day aren’t taken up by the daily grind, it’s the perfect opportunity to join a social club like Probus! Probus clubs are all about friendship, fellowship and fun in retirement, which is perfect for retired or semi-retired people. The basic purpose of these clubs is to provide regular opportunities for members to expand their interests, keep active and to enjoy the fellowship of new friends. There are Probus clubs in Mernda, Craigieburn, Doreen – as well as Werribee, Deer Park, Wyndham, Hoppers Crossing and more. There are also social clubs for all kinds of interests such as volunteering, celebrating culture and or simply laughing. You can download the Wyndham Seniors Directory here and Whittlesea here.
Community Events
As well as social club events, there are also plenty of community events and celebrations to attend in your local area. Enjoy a day out at Mernda’s Community Fair, South Morang’s Art in the Park, Point Cook’s Moonlight Cinema or Hopper’s Crossing’s Meditation Sessions. You can always find what’s on in your postcode with the help of your local council’s website.
Keep Active
Joining a local sporting club or simply enjoying some time outdoors is a wonderful way to pass your days. A hit of tennis or golf at your local course is a great way to stay fit, meet new people and enjoy the sun. Another option is to join a local Living Longer Living Stronger (LLLS) group. Focused on strength training, LLLS groups are located all over Melbourne and work to improve posture, balance, coordination and flexibility. New-build communities also have wonderful cycling tracks, walking tracks and parklands – perfect for taking your four-legged friend with you!
The Aston Homes team would love to discuss the next step towards achieving your best lifestyle. We also welcome you to visit our display homes and see for yourself. Our doors are open from 11AM to 5PM daily at both of our locations. For more information about visiting our display homes, please contact our sales team.
