Activities To Keep You Warm You This Winter
For many Aston Homes families, the winter school holidays are upon us and that means one thing: kids complaining that they’re boooored! If you’re looking to halt the complaints, or simply want to get out and about and enjoy the season for yourself, we’re here to help!
The Aston Homes team are locals across Melbourne’s Northern and Western suburbs and that’s why we’re bringing you some of the best winter activities available to try nearby!
School Holiday Programs
Is there anything that sounds better than a pre-organised, pre-planned school holiday program that the kids will love? We think not! For children aged five to twelve in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, we recommend Epping YMCA’s Winter School Holiday Program. With activities ranging from a tour of the MCG to mini MasterChef bake-offs and a winter wonderland party to close – your little ones will be left wondering how they got so lucky. In Melbourne’s western suburbs we recommend Wyndham Council’s July School Holiday Program. They’re hosting crafternoons, horse-riding at Werribee Racecourse, nights out at the Werribee Zoo and movie club Sundays. We can picture your rosy-cheeked, overjoyed and a little bit exhausted kids arriving home with huge smiles on their faces now! Book your place by following the links above.
The 7th – 14th of July marks NAIDOC Week across Australia. This is a week of storytelling, exhibits and events that that celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. These events are hosted by community organisations, local councils, workplaces, schools and sporting groups – so there’s bound to be something to interest everyone. Here’s where you can join in the celebrations in Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs.
Out and About
Winter activities aren’t just about the kids! There’s so much for singles, couples and older Melbournians to enjoy, too. Local restaurants are launching their winter menus and bars are firing up their winter specials (mulled wine anyone?). Enjoy this list of places to get out and about in Melbourne’s northern suburbs and these in Melbourne’s outer west.
An Afternoon At Home
Sometimes spending an afternoon in your Aston built home is a treat in itself on a winter’s day. Cracking open the board game cupboard is a guaranteed winner, but there often comes a time when the kids start to feel as if they’ve played everything. To us, that means it’s time to get creative. Here is a great how-to guide on creating your own checker board and creative counter set. What’s better than a construction challenge spread all over the floor with hours of fun guaranteed? And if finally, you have exhausted everyone’s creative juices, and you’re looking to cosy up in your theatre room with a movie marathon – here’s Time Out’s best movie picks for your whole family from Netflix.
